Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor, speaker, consultant, syndicated columnist, television host, and author. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she started. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran has participated in 12 of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. In February of 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, with the most significant being a $350,000 investment that included 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 kids born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence, her mother was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was constantly switching jobs throughout Corcoran’s life. At times, the family depended on free food delivery from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran states that her father was a drunk who did her mother a disservice and condescension. Corcoran struggled in school, and she later found out that she had dyslexia. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her departure from her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was proficient in several courses her freshman year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
